mnfindalawyer.com allows you to search for lawyers within four general categories: Keyword; Type of Case; Location; and Language. Search results are displayed in random order so that no lawyer is favored over another in each search result. If you search by location, however, lawyers who are closest to your location are listed first.
Keyword Search. Use a keyword search to find lawyers who have a specific word or phrase in their profiles. For instance, to find a lawyer who lists "Adoption" or "Custody" as a primary practice area, simply enter Adoption or Custody as a keyword and click the green search button. Similarly, if you already know the name of a lawyer or that lawyer's law firm, simply enter his or her name or law firm as a keyword and click the green search button. Like many online search functions, keyword searches look for each instance of the word in the lawyer listings.
Type of Case. mnfindalawyer.com has organized the various areas of law into easily understood legal categories. Lawyers who participate on mnfindalawyer choose the categories and subcategories according to their practice areas. Accordingly, to find lawyers who practice in certain legal areas, simply choose a category and/or any of the subcategories. There are 31 general types of cases listed, some with more than ten subcategories.
Location | Zip Code. Use the location feature to find attorneys within a certain number of miles of your zip code. For instance, to find an attorney within ten miles of the zip code 55104, enter the zip code and choose "10 miles" as the distance. If you do not want to limit a search by location, leave the location option at "any distance."
Language. If you speak a different language, choose that language to determine if any lawyers on mnfindalawyer either speak your language or have staff or others avaialable to help translate any communications.
Limited Scope Services. Some lawyers with profiles on mnfindalawyer.com offer "Limited Scope Services." Limited Scope Services is an alternative to providing traditional legal services. Attorneys who provide limited scope representation may offer only basic advice, or they may assist with strategy, document preparation, and even appearing in court but only for a limited and defined purpose. To find lawyers who offer Limited Scope Services, choose that category on the main search page and ask the lawyer about how he or she handles and charges for such services. In many case types on mnfindalawyer, there is also the subcategory of "Limited Scope Services" in that area.
